Why are peptides important in skincare?
Art Derma Skincare range incorporate sthe use of peptides, these power house of molecules are important as they act a messengers to trigger skin cells to perform specific functions specifically building collagen and elastin these give structural support giving the skin a more youthful appearance.
The science bit!
What is a peptide?
Peptides are the tiny molecules formed from the breakdown of collagen. They are similar to proteins; peptides are organic compounds made of chains of amino acids connected by peptide bonds.
Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins.
Peptides consist of two, three, or many amino acids, and are referred to as dipeptides, tripeptides, oligopeptides and polypeptides.
Proteins are typically made of one or more polypeptides. There is a characteristic resemblance between the amino acid sequences of peptides and those contained in larger proteins like collagen.
The main types of cosmeceutical peptides are available:
Carrier peptides- deliver minerals essential for wound healing and crosslinking collagen.
Neurotransmitter-affecting peptides working similarly to botox but with lower efficiency.
Signal peptides – stimulate new collagen and elastin production
Enzyme inhibiting peptides - block the enzymes that break down or degrade collagen.
Unlike retinol peptides can be used safely by all skin types!
The Art Derma Homecare Peptides
Acetyl Hexapeptide-8
Commonly referred to as “Botox in a jar” because it inhibits the release of neurotransmitters and relaxes the facial muscles, reducing expression lines and wrinkles. Acetyl hexapeptide 8, which is also known as Argireline, a peptide compound that is used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles brought on by repeated facial expressions.
Fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth usually form because of repeated facial expressions, such as smiling, frowning, or furrowing the brow in deep concentration or frustration. Acetyl hexapeptide 8 can temporarily remove the wrinkles by intercepting messages from the brain, thereby preventing muscle contractions.

Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1
Mimics the relationship between the growth factors involved in the skin’s healing process and the production of collagen. Essentially, palmitoyl tripeptide tricks your skin into producing more collagen to repair your skin, improve elasticity and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Palmitoyl tripeptide – 1 is a powerful skin-care ingredient to combat aging, but like most skin-care ingredients it works more effectively when used in combination with other antiaging peptide ingredients. When used as part of a good skin-care routine, palmitoyl tripeptide – 1 can help skin repair damage by stimulating collagen production. The results is younger, smoother and stronger skin.

Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7
Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 used in conjunction with Palmitoyl-Oligopeptide. They can boost the growth of the connective tissues and naturally increasing the production of collagen in the skin; when the production of collagen is increased, the skin can heal and rejuvenate itself.
Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 serves as an anti-inflammatory after exposure to UVB-irradiation.

Palmitoyl Hexapeptide – 12
This peptide is a blend of the fatty acid palmitic acid with several amino acids, including glycine, histidine, and lysine, also known as palmitoyl oligopeptide. A lipopeptide, it helps form layers around and in between skin cells, creating a barrier that keeps natural moisture intact and prevents it from escaping. Palmitoyl Hexapeptide12 is a lipopeptide molecule consisting of a lipid connected to Hexapeptide-12. Unlike water soluble peptides, Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-12 is highly biocompatible with skin’s natural structure. It interacts with cell membranes to boost and revitalize the natural function of the skin cells, renewing them to maximum growth potential. It boosts cell’s natural productivity levels and is considered to be one of the most natural powerful antiageing agents. It acts as a neurotransmitter, stimulates production of collagen and other major extracellular matrix proteins.
